Editorial Policy

Our Commitment to Thoughtful, Responsible Content

WALLGE aims to help international readers develop a better understanding of China through clear explanations, reliable information, and meaningful context.

We recognize that writing about a country, its people, and its society requires care. No single source can explain every aspect of a complex issue, and no individual can speak for an entire population.

Our editorial approach is guided by the following principles.

1. Context Matters

We aim to explain the background behind the subjects we cover rather than presenting isolated facts or events without context.

When discussing cultural practices, social trends, or public debates, we seek to explain what is known, what may be disputed, and what readers should consider before drawing conclusions.

2. Reliable Sources

We aim to use reliable sources appropriate to each subject, including official data, academic research, reputable reporting, primary materials, and relevant expert analysis.

Where possible, articles will link to sources that allow readers to examine important claims for themselves. We consider the date, methodology, scope, and limitations of information when these factors affect its interpretation.

We do not treat a claim as reliable simply because it supports a particular viewpoint.

3. Distinguishing Facts, Analysis, and Personal Experience

We aim to distinguish verifiable facts from interpretation, opinion, and personal experience.

An individual story can provide valuable insight, but it does not necessarily represent the experience of everyone in China. Similarly, a broad statistic may describe a trend without explaining every individual’s circumstances.

We will seek to make these distinctions clear in our writing.

4. Recognizing Diversity

China is not a uniform society. Regional differences, age, family background, occupation, education, and personal circumstances can shape people’s lives and opinions in different ways.

We avoid assuming that all Chinese people share the same beliefs, habits, or experiences. We also recognize that international readers have diverse backgrounds and may approach the same subject from different perspectives.

5. Openness to Questions and Criticism

WALLGE is not intended to tell readers what they must think about China.

We welcome respectful questions, constructive criticism, and information that challenges or improves our understanding. We do not consider a viewpoint correct or incorrect solely because it is positive or negative toward China.

Our aim is to explain subjects as carefully and honestly as we can.

6. AI-Assisted Research and Writing

Digital tools, including AI, may be used to support research, organization, translation, or drafting. However, generated text is not treated as proof that a claim is true.

Important factual claims should be checked against appropriate sources, and published content should be reviewed for accuracy, clarity, context, and misleading generalizations.

We aim to publish content that provides genuine value rather than relying on volume alone.

7. Corrections and Updates

We take factual accuracy seriously. If you believe an article contains an error, please contact us with the relevant passage and any supporting information you can provide.

We will review credible reports, make corrections where appropriate, and update articles when significant changes or new information warrant it.

Our Goal

Our goal is not to offer a final or complete explanation of China. It is to help readers explore the country with better information, greater context, and a willingness to look beyond assumptions.

We will continue to learn and improve as WALLGE grows.
